Liberty Wines welcomes eleventh Wine Apprentice

Liberty Wines is pleased to announce Emma Train as the eleventh appointee to its two-year Wine Apprentice programme. Joining the company in autumn 2017, Emma will work two vintages with Liberty Wines’ producers and experience all aspects of the UK wine business.

Emma was one of over 100 applicants for the position. Commenting on the selection, Communications Director, Luciann Flynn explains: ”Several candidates stood out, but Emma was a clear fit for the Apprentice role. Coming from London Cru and Roberson Wine, she has demonstrated the passion and commercial acumen required to appreciate and respond to the needs of our customers and we are confident she will bring valuable experience to the business.”

Luciann continues: “Education has always been an important element of our ethos at Liberty Wines and this programme reflects our commitment to the future of the industry. While a big investment for a company of our size, the Wine Apprenticeship represents a fantastic opportunity to develop our own team while also allowing an individual to gain skills across the company.”

Emma will undertake the WSET Level 4 Diploma during her apprenticeship to complement the hands-on experience she will gain by doing a vintage in France and one in the Antipodes.

Emma Train commented: “I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to join a company like Liberty Wines and to be named their Wine Apprentice for 2017-2019. I have long respected the quality of the portfolio and as a customer have experienced their commitment to service. To be able to learn all aspects of the industry in such a well-respected business is fantastic.”

The tenth Apprentice, Sebastian Barnick, has successfully completed the first year of his programme and has just finished working on the 2017 vintage in Vienna. Five previous Apprentices, including the first Apprentice Nicola Gutman, remain with the company in various roles across sales, marketing and our production business.
