Twelve Trophies & 26 Golds at IWC 2018

We are delighted to announce that nine wines from our portfolio have been awarded 12 Regional, National, and Varietal Trophies between them at this years’ International Wine Challenge.

Our Trophy-winning wines are listed below, along with the judges' tasting notes. Justino's and Nyetimber have scooped three trophies each, with Charles Heidsieck and Dandelion Vineyards collecting two trophies each:

Non Vintage Classic Blend Champagne Trophy
96 points: Heady, honeyed, smoky tints of freshly baked pastry expand into a generous, structured palate with an exquisite core of ripe, red apple and stone fruits. Creamy, fine mousse and such lasting, textural, mouth-filling joy! Delicious!

Rosé Champagne Trophy
97 points: Bright golden and fine, even bead. Aromas of creamy strawberries, classic brioche, apple peel with a toasty complexity.

Nyetimber, Blanc de Blancs 2010, West Sussex, Southern England
English Sparkling Blanc De Blancs Trophy

96 points: Restrained, yeasty, lemon pitch and grapefruit aromas, and a long attenuated palate of apple sherbet and a creamy, toasty finish.

Pieropan, `La Rocca` Soave Classico 2015, Veneto, Italy
Soave Trophy
95 points: Gentle honey, lanoline aromas, followed by bright acidity. Supporting flavours of lemon creme brulee. A wine that restores faith in the good name of Soave. Generous and taut.

Justino's Madeira, Terrantez 50 Years Old NV, Madeira, Portugal

97 points: Intense, complex nose and palate. Softer first impression. Toffee, dried apricot, fig and hints of coconut. Ripe and sweet but still savoury and juicy and almost a dry, clean finish. Seamless palate with a very, very long finish.

96 points: Very elegant, delicious, beautiful. Grapefruit, Oxford marmalade nose. excellent poise and balance and long finish. Vibrant acidity, luscious, clean and fresh.

Nyetimber, Classic Cuvée Magnum 2009, West Sussex, Southern England
English Sparkling Trophy / English Sparkling Classic Blend Trophy
96 points: Nose of incredible vigour and freshness for the vintage. Palate still adolescence and energetic, opening up like a peacock's take of orchard fruits. Great finish.

95 points: A beautiful example of Eden Valley riesling, with captivating candied fruit, peach and lime and a stoney mineral palate and long citrus finish.

Clos De La Roche Trophy
97 points: Attractive, jewel-like hue, smoky beetroot, sweet cherry and forest floor on the nose. Bright character, fleshy plum fruit character and lively balance, Fresh acidity and filigree tannins. A hint of mocha on the sustained, textured finish.
