David Gleave MW looks back on Liberty Wines' past 20 years

In our 20th anniversary year, we have been looking back on the past 20 years, as well as looking forward to the next decade, as David Gleave writes:

"Liberty Wines started trading in March 1997 and our first price list, printed in the September, had 40 producers, 60% of whom were from Italy. 1997 saw John Major as prime minister, with Tony Blair still two months away from sweeping into power. Donald Trump was a publicity seeking property developer in New York, Barack Obama a newly elected Senator in Illinois. The Spice Girls were top of the charts.

"Many things have changed in the past 20 years, but good producers and customers have lasted longer than ephemeral pop stars and politicians. We like to think that Liberty Wines has thrived during this period because of our continued commitment to service and quality. But we also think we've been able to adapt and evolve to meet the changing needs of our customers while remaining true to our founding principles of representing the best producers in the world's most exciting wine regions.

"We hope our service and the quality of both our wines and our team will form the basis of the strong platform from which we launch our journey into our next decade."
