producer of Verdicchio in the Matelica DOC, a smaller zone than Castello di Jesi. The climate here is more continental than in Castelli di Jesi and the combination of warm days and cool nights gives a longer growing season, and lovely aromatic qualities to the wines.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from a vineyard in the Lancioni Calle township on a south-facing hillside at 420 metres above sea level. The vines are Guyot trained and organically grown.

Vintage Information

2016 was a challenging vintage in Marche. The severe frost in April damaged some of the vineyards. Even the summer days were interrupted by periods of grey skies and misty rains, which persisted into harvest. Yields were generally lower, and wines showed slightly less body and lower alcohol.


Once picked, the grapes are fermented for 20 days at 14-16°C in stainless steel tank. Belisario use the technique of hyper oxigenation of the must to avoid the use of sulphites. After fermentation the wine is aged for 8 months in stainless steel vats and then released in July.

Tasting Notes

A complex example of Verdicchio di Matelica. On the nose, it shows interesting aromas of golden apple, pink grapefruit and wax. On the palate it is soft and round, with a persistand finish.
