Vineyards

Colin Kroehn has tended his Eden Valley Riesling for 67 of his 87 years. The Wonderland of the Eden Valley is made entirely from his vineyard which was planted in 1912 and produces excellent fruit.

Vinification

Whole bunches from Dandelion's oldest vineyard, 101 years old in 2012, were hand picked in the cool of the early morning on 16th March and destemmed in small batches without crushing. The free run juice was fermented in small stainless steel tanks between 11°C and 14°C. It was bottled directly without _x001A_ining or filtration to capture the essence of the vineyard.

Tasting Notes

Pristine pale straw with almost _x001A_uorescent green tinges. An intense late vintage nose of powerful jasmine, mandarin leaf and even lychee juice bursting fruit freshness, with invigorating, intense smells of lime skin and cinnamon spice. The palate shows a wonderful spectrum of stone-fruit, including apricot and classic mandarin, developing into rich lemon meringue tart-like flavour but still with a refreshing steely minerality, balanced with racy, slate-like acidity.
