All vineyards are located on the 400 acre estate in the heart of Kent. Wealden clay soils overlay Tunbridge Wells sand. Vines are trellised using the double guyot method with vertical shot positioning. Planting density is 3300 vines per hectare and the whole estate is managed sustainably.
2016 was a very challenging year for Hush Heath. The rainy spring led to poor flower, and a significant reduction in volumes. As a result winemakers Owen and Victoria decided to make an English White blend, in order to have enough volume available.
Each variety in the blend was picked, whole bunch pressed and vinified separately. To preserve, the delicate flavours of the fruit, vinification took place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures with specially selected yeasts. Furthermore, there was no oak ageing and malolactic fermentation was limited to preserve the freshness and acidity of the resulting wine.
Bursting with red apple and hints of pear on the nose. The palate displays lemon and lime, with mouth-watering acidity and a smooth finish.
